Women for Kimon:
Drumming up democracy
August 7, 2004, North Muskegon, MI.
Women for Kimon held its first Drumming Up Democracy event as
a fun-rai$er for candidate Kotos. Drums and people merged
with spirit on the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan, right
here in North Muskegon. The intent was to raise Democratic
spirit, inspire volunteers and raise some campaign
resources.
Kimon, fresh from his encounter with Ottawa County's coast
Guard Festival Parade, where a predominantly conservative
Republican crowd met him with considerable "reserve", was
heartened and cheered by the smiling and energetic drummers,
led by master drummer Barb Pitcher from Twin Lakes.
Many
volunteers stayed on the beach planning the next drumming
event until long past sunset, and the embers of a beach
bonfire faded under the stars. A beautiful August night |
